Auckland Art Gallery Toi o T?maki strengthens and enriches our community through art and ideas. Established in 1888, the Gallery holds important collections of New Zealand and international art and presents a dynamic programme of temporary exhibitions, public programmes and educational services.

The scope of this function is broad, you will be responsible for the management and execution of the Gallery's annual exhibitions and commissions programmes, includinginternally generated exhibitions, touring exhibitions, artist commissions,andcreative learning centre projects. This is a critical function in fulfilling the Gallery'svisionand mission.

Key responsibilities are:
   » Manage theplanning,production and delivery of the exhibition programme, ensuring the appropriate allocation of financial andhumanresources, timelines and risk assessment.Monitor and regularly report programme status.
   » Developand circulatethe forward timeline for the exhibition programme,incorporating significant information and perspectives.
   » Lead the preparation of business cases for exhibitions, including financial and resource impacts.
   » Construct the annual exhibition budget and monitor projects to ensure they remain within agreed parameters.
   » Ensure thatexhibition projects including artist commissions, the Creative Learning Centre projects,and touring exhibitionsare developed anddelivered efficiently and on-schedule.Supervise and coach twoCoordinators.
   » Implement effective evaluation methodologies to inform future programming.
   » Ensure effective stakeholder management and communications for all stages of exhibition and commission projects.

Youmustbe highly organized and proficient in managing schedules and budgets and coordinating internal and external work teams. You will have outstanding leadership abilities and interpersonal expertise, commercial acumen,and process managementcapability. You will be proactiveand meticulous, with a high degree of self-direction.You will have strong analytical capabilities, capacityto identify issues, and the skill to and negotiate and implement solutions. practice in a museum or art gallery setting is desirable; an appreciation of the need for excellence in the presentation and protection of art is essential.
