Lead engagement to deliver work programmes through the development of relationships with the T?puna Taonga Trust, Mana Whenua, stakeholders, contractors, rangatahi and community groups.

Ko wai m?tou? – Who are we?
The T?puna Maunga Authority is an independent co-governance entity that looks after ng? T?puna Maunga o T?maki Makaurau – the ancestral mountains (volcanic cones) of Auckland.
Formed out of a historic Treaty of Waitangi settlement that saw ownership of the T?puna Maunga return to Ng? Mana Whenua o T?maki Makaurau. Te Waka Tairanga Whenua is a business unit within parks and community facilities that manages the work programmes for co-governance and co-management and is a part of Maunga operational team that looks after the work programme for T?puna Maunga Authority on behalf of Auckland Council.
Te ?hua o Te T?runga – The nature of the position
The Kaiwhakahono Kaupapa – Engagement Advisor – Conservation, is a vital and public facing position, within the customer and community services team. Leading the delivery of community, school, and mana whenua-led conservation projects and providing resources, restoration advice, training and building capacity.
The position enables the identification, build and establishment of effective relationships with volunteer and Mana Whenua-led groups to optimise biodiversity results and support biosecurity related primary productivity. Providing opportunities and identifying possible projects that local schools, tertiary institutions and community can engage, you will ascertain areas which increase restoration and biodiversity results on the T?puna Maunga, including developing trapping and weed management halos around each Maunga.
Supporting the facilitation of effective delivery of restoration plans, you will assist in the development of educational resources to further enhance visitor knowledge of the Maunga values. Building effective relationships with the T?puna Maunga Authority, the T?puna Taonga Trust, Ng? Mana Whenua o T?maki Makaurau, you will report on theJobs for Nature project progress including resource usage and financial spend against plans and budget. Ensuring stakeholder and visitor information is managed effectively and contributes to a greater knowledge of the T?puna Maunga values, you will be accountable for community and volunteer groups being pro-actively engaged and retained.
Furthermore, you will ensure public engagement remains strong and is enhanced as Information technology relates to respect, knowledge of the values and connection with the T?puna Maunga. Success in this position will look like solid engagement, the efficient delivery of Jobs for Nature programme and the continuing development of relationships with the T?puna Taonga Trust, Mana Whenua, stakeholders, contractors, rangatahi and community groups
Ng? tino P?kenga/Wheako – Essential expertise/practices for the function
   » A degree – ideally in M?ori Studies, Parks and Recreation or Ecology and a Growsafe certification is highly desirable to application.
   » Knowledge of M?tauranga M?ori, and practical application of principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
   » Competent at communicating in both te reo and English.
   » Past practice working in park and community, or in an iwi partnership management position.
   » Can demonstrate prosperous management and delivery of operational projects, contracts, and work programmes.
   » capability to clearly impart information verbally and in written form, and the practice to effectively manage internal and external stakeholders through advocacy, negotiation, and collaboration, with the capability to influence, persuade and inspire others.
   » Can demonstrate practice in relationship building and the capability to engage with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
   » Current NZ applicable driver's licence.
   » Effective written and verbal communication expertise.
   » An knowledge of biodiversity and best practice.
   » knowledge of Te Reo M?ori and broad knowledge of tikanga M?ori.
