We are pursuing innovative educators to contribute to the development of our learning programmes for ?konga, with a special focus on Digital Learning and Pacific contexts and learners. You will empower our learners to engage with Te Papa’s collections, exhibitions and resources by designing and facilitating significant learning practices, resources and products for ?konga. You will help us grow our learning communities and expand our reach and accessibility through: » working as part of a team to design rich and authentic programmes for ?konga within both formal and informal learning setting » designing programmes that enrich school located curriculum leveraging the power of taonga, stories and communities » encouraging and advising others on representing and including Pacific perspectives within learning programmes, and helping develop our relationships across communities and schools. The Learning team comprises of specialists across museum education incl uding formal learning, early childhood, kohanga reo, kura kaupapa, primary and secondary school audiences. Museum Learning Specialists work closely together to facilitate a dynamic range of learning programmes for school and kura groups, onsite, on outreach and by digital delivery. You will also work alongside Te Papa staff in curatorial, collections, exhibitions and visitor services teams. We are seeking for kaiako and educators who: » love the possibilities that Digital Technologies provide to enrich and deepen learning and are practiced at developing and delivering innovative digital technologies curriculum learning especially to those with limited digital learning opportunities » are passionate and talented and who engage learning and technology to make a real difference to the communities they work with » are creative, innovative and skilled in supporting learning inside or outside of the classroom » confident in working with groups of ?konga of all ages, and have particular practice in and affinity for working with Pacific learners and their communities » have strong networks and relationships in their field. To be prosperous in this function you: » will have demonstrated your expertise as a kaiako and be well versed in The New Zealand Curriculum and Te Marautanga o Aotearoa » bring a range of innovative learning practices and create empowering learning practices with emerging learning technologies » you’re an advocate for learning and you’re passionate about contributing to educational innovation » you’re a lifelong learner with a growth mindset who enjoys creative problem solving » you enjoy developing new programmes and products, and believe in testing ideas and experimenting » you’re a team player with great ideas and the expertise to bring them to life » a formal teaching qualification, particularly in Early Childhood settings is an advantage. this function is permanent and full-time (40 hours). A fixed-term secondment – especially for a kura located kaiako looking to reinvigorate their practice would be welcomed. Other arrangements will be considered for the right person. Offers will be made within the range to reflect the expertise and practice offered by the candidate and those required of the function, and internal relativities with other employees. A component of this function involves interaction with children so, as a part of the assessment process, we will require police vetting of preferred candidates to ensure we are providing a safe environment for children.
