Purpose of the function: The Maintenance adjunct is a hands-on function: you will be responsible for general maintenance at Howick Historical Village, which has one of the most broad collections of early history buildings in NZ, including raupo cottages, schools, cottages, a church, forge, and general store. Howick Historical Village is going through an exciting time with a new vision and purpose with the development of our new Strategic Plan, available here. You will be responsible for everyday repairs and managing external contractors in conjunction with the Facilities Manager. You will undertake daily, weekly, monthly inspection routines to ensure all areas are maintained to a high standard by providing a high-quality standard of service all over the visitor attraction. About you: »Knowledge and practice » capability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and other manuals and documents. » practice knowledge and applying principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion, and honouring the Treaty of Waitangi particularly regarding M?ori culture and heritage. » capability to work in a team and follow instructions. » Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical systems (including significant equipment and tools) is desirable. » Interest in the Cultural Heritage Sector. » Valid NZ Driver's Licence »expertise and Abilities » Good time management expertise » Proactive attitude » Excellent communication expertise » Good team relationship building expertise and working within a small team. » Able to work unassisted and on own initiative.
