Job Description

The Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (DPMC) occupies a unique position at the centre of New Zealand’s system of democratic government. Information technology exists to support the effective conduct of executive government by the Prime Minister, the Governor-General and members of the Cabinet. DPMC’s principal function is provision of advice, on a everyday basis, to the Prime Minister and Cabinet on the wide variety of complex issues that confront the Government – particularly its policy priorities.
An opportunity has become available for an practiced and confident Executive adjunct to provide professional executive level support to the DCE, Policy. The Executive adjunct has a pivotal function in ensuring the group functions effectively and delivers high quality support to the DCE and group – you will need to thrive in a dynamic, fast paced environment. To be prosperous in this function you must have great time management and organisation expertise, the capability to build and maintain strong relationships and display initiative, excellent judgement and discretion. You will be an expert in diary and email management with strong anticipation expertise. Your attention to detail will be important, as will be keeping an eye on the big picture. You will enjoy the management of a small team.
Key responsibilities of the function will include:
   » Supporting the DCE in the effective and efficient use of their time
   » Provision of administrative and secretarial support
   » Identifying, planning and ensuring the DCE is aware of upcoming tasks, events and requirements
   » Developing and maintaining key contacts which assist in the smooth co-ordination of work within the DCE’s area of responsibility
   » Managing and superviseing the work of a small team of 2-3 Senior Support Coordinators
Key attributes required to be prosperous in the function include:
   » Proven practice in planning and providing high quality support services to senior management, including the capability to judge situations well, and take the initiative to respond quickly and appropriately where required
   » The capability to focus on multiple issues, to prioritise, and to work to tight deadlines while staying unruffled and without losing attention to detail
   » A highly responsive approach and a commitment to supporting the DCE
   » Proven customer service orientation with the capability to deliver accurate, timely and quality products
   » Proven practice with the Microsoft Office environment including advanced expertise in Outlook and Word, and intermediate expertise in Excel and PowerPoint.
The indicative remuneration for the function, depending on expertise and practice is $71,857 to91,817.
