ELSA – Early Learning and Student Achievement
At the heart of our work is making sure that every day, in every early learning service, kohanga reo, school, and kura, the education workforce and curriculum delivery is world class, and focused on what New Zealanders need for their best future.
About the Employment Relations team
Our Employment Relations team works to ensure current and up to date conditions of employment are in place for people working in schools and kura around the country. We are a small but focused team of specialists who work closely with schools, education sector unions, and peak bodies to set conditions and resolve employment relations challenges within the education sector.
About this function
The Principal Communications Advisor takes a lead function in providing communications, marketing support and advice around specified areas of work in the employment relations space. this function acts as a trusted Adviser and influencer to the team to lead complex communications projects, programmes and advice to the Education sector.
If you are a strategic thinker, have the capability to take a strategic oversight focus on issues and be adept at meeting strategic and tactical business needs, we want you!
About you
To be prosperous in this function, you will be an excellent communicator, with well-developed writing expertise. The Principal Communications Advisor works in the Employment Relations space – practice and knowledge of this area is a must.
You will also offer the following:
   » User-focused technical writing expertise
   » Proven practice to build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
   » practice working within a risk prone environment and has a good sense of potential risks coming in future
   » broad knowledge of the political environment
   » Strong knowledge of how to deal with publicity and the media
   » Excellent communication expertise and the capability to work collaboratively with others to deliver results
   » The capability to understand and apply the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and tangata whenuatanga
