About our group and team
The Early Learning and Student Achievement Group (ELSA) sets the system-level learning for every child and student. Working between policy and customer facing functions, there is a significant political, stakeholder and public interest in the high performance of this group and the education curriculum and teaching workforce results we seek for New Zealand.
As part of the Office of the Deputy Secretary within ELSA, the Governance, Commissioning and Ministerials team (GCM) is responsible for the efficient commissioning and co-ordination of quality and timely Ministerials, as well as advice to support cross Ministry requests and wider information of ELSA governance requests as they arise.
This is a small, agile and responsive team that maintains good relationships across all parts of th e ELSA group, the wider Ministry and Ministers’ offices to triage requests, clarify commissioning, co-ordinate responses and maintain the consistency and quality of ELSA’s ministerial advice, and internal/external communications.
About the function
The Coordinator supports the work of the Governance, Commissioning and Ministerials team to ensure essential process actions are supported and delivered to timelines.
The support the coordinator provides will be to ensure the group delivers on its various work programmes and will coordinate various reporting requirements, and follow-ups.
this function also provides support to internal and external stakeholders on issues management and responses relating to Ministerial requests, correspondence, media enquiries, Official Information Act requests, Ombudsman and Privacy Act complaints.
About you
The Coordinator supports the team in organising and coordinating a wide variety of activities and provides a degree of administrative support. Our ideal candidate will be a forward-thinker who can anticipate needs, juggle multiple priorities and will be willing to support with ad-hoc administrative support across the team as required.
You will also offer as follows:
   » Previous practice in an administration style function
   » Strong customer and stakeholder support
   » practice in organising – identifying what matters, anticipating next steps, accurately delivering what was commissioned
   » Effective, accurate and succinct communication in a wide variety of settings and styles
   » Effectively work with the Microsoft suite of products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio
   » The capability to understand and apply the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and tangata whenuatanga
