The Te Ao M?ori and Te Reo M?ori Advisor will work closely and collaboratively with the Chief Service practice agent to provide the delivery of improved connections and practice for M?ori through Te Ao M?ori and Te Reo M?ori.
this function is pivotal in exploring language and principles we use to consider and reflect M?ori aspirations and equity within our work.
About the function – Atu mo te mahi
The Te Ao M?ori and Te Reo M?ori Advisor translates artefacts into Te Reo M?ori, with a particular focus on the COVID vaccination service.
In this function you will perform the following tasks:
   » Professional translation, interpretation and other language services including quality assessment, typesetting, transcription, editing, formatting and proofreading translations of documents and other written material from English to the Te Reo M?ori
   » Ensure timely, accurate and complete artefacts, reports, documents are provided to stakeholders
   » Read material from the source language and rewrite Information technology in the required (target) language
   » Check that the original meaning and feeling of the text is not lost
   » Ensure that technical terms are correctly translated
   » Apply an approach informed by tikanga and Te Reo M?ori
   » Support and actively participate in projects, as required
About you – Pehea koe
Qualifications and practice:
   » Ideally knowledge of Te Whare Tapa Wh? (M?ori model of health)
   » Ideally a minimum of three years’ practice in a Kaupapa M?ori function
   » Fluency in Te Reo me ?na tikanga and the English language
   » Ideally, a significant qualification in Te Reo M?ori
expertise and competence:
   » A sound knowledge, knowledge and application of Te Reo M?ori and Tikanga
   » Proven capability to engage effectively with M?ori and non-M?ori and advise on equity focused approaches
   » Knowledgeable of health inequalities and priority populations
   » Exceptional communication and interpersonal expertise, including the capability to engage well with others and positively influence results
   » A strong knowledge of Government and the Treaty of Waitangi
   » Project and programme management capcapability
