Job Offer: Lecturer – Human Rights in NZ:Maori Pacific JobsJob description:Job DescriptionLecturer – Human Rights in NZAUT University’s School of Social Sciences & Public Policy is looking to appoint an hourly paid Lecturer to teach the following course in the Master of Human Rights:» SOSC802 – Human Rights in New Zealand: History, Institutions, and Impact An advanced introduction to the history of human rights, the architecture of human rights institutions, and core human rights legislation in New Zealand. An examination of the core international human rights treaties that New Zealand has signed and ratified will be examined and students will analyse how prosperously New Zealand has implemented human rights conventions. The AUT Master of Human Rights degree is the first of its kind in Australasia. Information technology does not require students to possess a law degree, or to have followed a prescribed course at undergraduate level. Information technology does require students to have a passion for human rights and to have been prosperous scholars at undergraduate level. Students previously enrolled in the programme came from a variety of disciplinary and career backgrounds. For example, social sciences; conflict resolution; communications; law; theology; emergency services; health sciences; education; corrections; armed forces; dispute resolution services; union organization; and business. More than half of the students were also born outside New Zealand. We believe this diversity makes for a rich practice in the classroom, offering insights from a wide variety of philosophies, ideologies, cultures, methodologies, and practices, and exposing students to ideas, beliefs, and perspectives that they might not have come across in their previous disciplinary studies.
