Auckland Council is seeking a Specialist Corporate Communication and Media who is interested to work collaboratively across the Auckland Council and who can deliver a range of communication and stakeholder services.
The Corporate Communication and Media team is part of the Public Affairs unit which is responsible for managing communication activity and relationships that affect council reputation across the public and political interface, and engaging with media. Reporting to the Manager of Corporate Communication and Media, this function will be responsible for establishing and developing strong effective relationships with journalists, sector groups and partners on key council priorities.
this function is pivotal in communicating the business of the council to the public and a wide variety of stakeholders.
He k?rero m?u: About you
You will have proven significant practice in communications or PR with practice in delivering communications strategy and reputational advice. While you might not have worked in local government before, familiarity with advising senior managers or directors is essential, as is practice in working with the media and supporting media relations. With a significant tertiary qualification in communications, public relations or a related field you will be able to listen and understand while also being confident in providing advice, feedback or your own point of view.
You will have influencing expertise at a range of levels, personal resilience and the expertise to build positive, open relationships across a dynamic, challenging and complex environment.
This is a fast-paced and exciting function. Deadlines, pressure and competing priorities all come with the job.
