Quality ManagerJob location:Auckland Manukau & East Auckland Work Type: Permanent » » » »Champion non/clinical H & S, and Quality services »Modern Healthcare environ, Mon – Fri, no shifts, Sth Auckland »Job security, Wellness programme, medical insurance allowance etc Our client » Our client is within the Healthcare sector and prides themselves on serving the community through clinical excellence and providing a service second to none. » Reporting to the CEO and as part of the senior management team, this function is the result of a merging of responsibilities and truly is an exciting opportunity for you take on a new position in a dynamic environment; there are no staff reports or budgetary responsibilities Purpose » To champion the effective and efficient management of clinical and non-clinical health and safety, and quality services » To support the CEO to achieve strategic goals, to ensure the delivery of patient care reflects clinical best practice » Actively lead quality improvement initiatives including those connected with environmental sustaincapability. » A focus on a health and safety, quality and risk management framework » Assist the CEO to meet strategic plan targets for safety, quality and risk ensuring values are upheld Key tasks (in brief) Quality Improvement and Risk Management To lead the provision of quality, cost effective care that meets the expectations and patient care needs of the organization. » This involves audit management, the chair of Quality Meetings, ensuring that the Quality Standards are implemented, monitored and maintained and that risks are identified, and the appropriate remedial actions are taken. » Quality improvement and risk management advice, staff adherence to policies/clinical standards of practice, oversight of issues, assisting with queries and leading patient complaints process » Manage incident/event identification process, maintain Quality and Risk Register, and coordinate document review process Health & Safety Lead, achieve and maintaining legislative compliance requirements; ensure that standards are met (eg AS/NZS 4801:2001 Standard for Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems and Quality Plan). Assist in the development and implementation of systems that improve health and safety, quality, and decrease the potential risk of harm » Chair Health and Safety meetings, working closely with the H & S Reps to ensure continuing compliance » Ensure that all H & S related protocols/procedures are current/meet legislative requirements » Lead Health and Safety initiatives, facilitate development and annual review of the HASE Plan in collaboration with the HASE Committee, the Hazard & Risk List and Local Hazard Register » Analyse and investigate H & S incident data, notifying Dept Labour (OSH) as appropriate; leading audits, quarterly Hazard inspections and collaborate with mgmt re Contractor performance Planning and Processes Demonstrate a clear knowledge of health and safety and quality improvement processes and inspires others to share the same vision. Set clear goals and motivate others to undertake safety, quality improvements and to identify and manage risks both real and perceived » Plan, coordinate and implement health and safety and quality improvement and management processes; guiding staff to ensure highest patient care » Actively participate in clinical and non-clinical planning processes and projects as they relate to Health and Safety, Quality and Risk » Audit support, collate and document inter dept audits » contact with Facility Manager to identify and implement waste reduction programmes » Lead the MoH Certification processes Clinicals Practice Ensure the continuing development and implementation of a safety and quality framework for professional clinical practice » Document quality located guidelines, incorporating into all care delivery processes, using clinical pathways to guide practice » Provide nursing leadership abilities and support in H & S and quality perspective which involves working closely with the Clinical Director, Nurse Educator and Infection Control Nurse » Research all new policies and protocols to ensure that contemporary best practice is implemented » Lead continuing development/management of the safety, quality and risk programme Environmental Sustaincapability Ensure that environmental health, safety and sustaincapability are key organizational priorities » Foster a commitment to a system-wide green and healthy culture and assure strategic and operating plans reflect this » Form a working group consisting of representatives of various areas within the organization to help guide and implement waste management initiatives. » Provide opportunities for educating staff on environmental factors that contribute to the burden of disease, as well as the relationship between public environmental health and disease avoidance Corporate To support a strong and positive image of the organisation within the community and with key internal and external stakeholders » A professional appearance and image is maintained at all times » A positive, proactive learning environment is fostered » Co-operation exists with colleagues in other facilities » Provides Health & Safety, Quality & Risk data for various Board documents » Strategic initiatives, including health and safety, quality and risk elements » Responsibility for compiling the Health and Safety Dashboard and reporting on key issues to the Board You » Will be a Registered Nurse with current APC and a minimum of 5 years surgical hospital practice seeking a new and compensateing function » Will have knowledge of computer systems to an intermediate level » Understand the importance of managing waste and be conversant with environmental initiatives » May have private sector health, Quality and Risk, H & S practice » Will be familiar with and demonstrate a commitment to health and safety, quality improvement and risk management processes » Excellent problem solving expertise and a pedantic approach re accuracy in all documents (tailored cover letter included) » Clinical incident management knowledge and practice » Goal orientated, have project completion success, be self directed and a positive change agent On Offer » Be part of the Senior Management team » Hours are 40/week (flexible start time) with free parking » Small handover and files completed » Wellness programme » 10 days sick leave (already) » Generous allowance for medical insurance (after brief qualifying period) and other benefits » Wider group career opportunities » A modern office awaits as does a welcoming and dynamic team » Note: No direct reports or budgetary responsibilities Interested?
