We are currently recruiting for practiced Earlier Mental Health Response Triage Nurses to join our Healthline team.
About the function – Atu mo te mahi
The Earlier Mental Health Response Triage Nurse is responsible for assisting service users who contact the service from, but not limited to the following:
   » Police, ambulance or fire dispatch service
   » After hours service
   » Expert advice line
this function will also provide mental health information and advice to police ambulance or fire service communications staff or front-line workers, school guidance counsellors, Work and salary, rural communities and other front-line workers as part of the expert advice service.
Shifts take place according to a 24/7 rotating roster.

Qualifications and practice:
   » Registered Nurse with current New Zealand practising certificate with a post graduate certificate with no limitations in working in mental health focus
   » Minimum five years practising in a mental health setting
   » practice of delivering triage and interventions within mental health settings via the telephone and can use tools as part of this process
   » practice in working with suicide and risk and can effectively undertake risk assessment and management
expertise and competence:
   » Able to build rapport with callers and deliver a recovery orientated, person centred approach to working with people in distress
   » Utilises collaborative support planning and promotion of the caller living as autonomously as possible in the community
   » Sound clinical judgement in the assessment and management of suicide and other risk
   » practice in the use of recognised therapeutic models and intervention strategies
   » capability to effectively deliver triage, assessment, and interventions, create support plans, provide referrals and follow up via the telephone
   » High level oral and written expertise for communicating with service users, family/whanau, team members and other services such as DHB, police and ambulance
   » Good level of Information technology and telecommunication expertise, capability to use and navigate multiple health applications quickly and effectively
   » capability to effectively navigate the health sector and complete referrals to DHB, NGO and primary care services
   » Connecting in with our priority communities is essential and a high degree of cultural consciousness and empathy is required. Korero M?ori or talanoa in Pasifika languages is also highly desirable
