We are building new capcapability to provide national curriculum support through our regional network in Sector Enablement and Support to support schools, kura and wharekura, early learning services and Nga Kohanga Reo. We understand that to provide great curriculum support to akonga working collaboratively works best.
About this function
This is a new and unique opportunity to support kaiako to design and implement marau a-kura that supports children and young people’s learning and wellbeing. this function is intended specifically to support all kura Maori and Maori medium settings. You will be located in a regional office in Auckland and be part of a newly formed national team working closely with kura, Maori medium settings, kohanga reo and our reo Maori early learning centres to:
   » Provide hands-on support to kaiako so they can deliver high-quality marau a-kura with a focus on supporting the learning and wellbeing of akonga
   » Work alongside whanau, hapu and iwi to design a curriculum that reflects the aspirations of all akonga, is aligned to the national curriculum and reflects local, community and iwi needs
   » Work with curriculum rauemi and guidelines
   » Build collaborative networks within communities and actively share local practices
About you
To be prosperous in this function you will need the following:
   » Curriculum Leads working in Maori Medium settings will have a high level of proficiency in te reo Maori and a current knowledge of and commitment to kura, whanau hapu and iwi tikanga and kawa
   » An in-depth knowledge and/or practice in implementing Te Marautanga o Aotearoa
   » broad knowledge and practice in teaching and learning, leadership abilities, curriculum and assessment theory and practice, and an capability to support professional change within kura, Maori medium settings, wharekura, reo Maori early learning centres and/or Kohanga Reo level
   » Experiential knowledge and competencies in supporting curriculum design that has evidenced improved results for diverse communities
   » Strong facilitation and interpersonal expertise, diplomacy and an capability to adapt to different interaction styles and contexts
   » Proven practice of building and maintaining effective relationships with whanau and community groups
   » Values, behaviours and knowledges that enhance practice in all Maori Medium settings
