The Team:What we do Hauora M?ori/M?ori Health is about the wellbeing of Te Iwi M?ori. We have a dedicated team of practiced and qualified M?ori health workers and registered professionals who are responsive to M?ori health needs and committed to providing culturally appropriate healthcare for the M?ori community. We're looking for an outgoing, compassionate person to join our team as a Kaimahi Hauora M?ori (M?ori Health Worker) at the Christchurch campus! You'll work within a supportive team of health workers and clinical staff supporting our M?ori patients and their whanau as they transition through the hospital. This is a fixed-term, part time opportunity working 0.5FTE/20hr per week. Working hours will match the service demand covering a late afternoon/early evening period Working days will include at least one weekend day The function:Where you fit in We are aiming to strengthen the Hauora Maori team presence in ED (to spread across seven days) to ensure this would enable all Maori patients presenting to have a Hauora Maori assessment in partnership with other health professionals to address the equity of care and decision making for the patient and whanau. You will play an integral part in covering In this function, you will be responsible for as follows: » Providing guidance, support and facilitation to M?ori patients to deliver a quality bi-cultural service aligning with Te Tiriti o Waitangi » Supporting service delivery consistent with Tikanga Best Practice Standard, to best meet the needs to t?roro M?ori and their whanau » Providing health information and education to M?ori patients and whanau to enhance recovery and support positive changes in behaviour Your skills will include: » Intermediate expertise of Tikanga M?ori and Te Reo » expertise of, and commitment to, Te Tiriti o Waitangi and biculturalism » The capability to develop positive relationships in the M?ori community and foster relationships with existing professional networks » expertise of the health system is advantageous, however training will be provided » A significant tertiary qualification and/or practice in M?ori heath or social sectors, and community development Our Culture:What matters to us Ko ng? t?ngata, te m?tua mahi Putting people at the heart of all we do Health is ultimately all about people.
