About our group and team Learning Support is a critical part of the Sector Enablement and Support Group in the Ministry. We are charged with leading the education sector in ensuring that children and young people with disabilities and additional learning needs are supported to achieve their full potential through education. One in five children and young people receive some form of learning support all over their early learning and schooling education. Our Learning Support specialists around the country work closely with families, wh?nau, caregivers, schools and early childhood educators in English and M?ori medium settings and other agencies to help maximise learning results and promote social inclusion. The Service Delivery team provides advice and guidance to Ministers, national and regional staff, and input into cross agency work to support the developmen t and delivery of evidence-informed services and support.Our work is challenging and very compensateing and this is a unique opportunity to work at a system level to strengthen the education system’s provision of learning support for disabled children and young people and those with learning support needs. About this function The Principal Advisor supports the Group Manager, Service Delivery to deliver on priorities. The Principal Advisor will operate with a high degree of judgement and knowledge of complexity and managing risks to ensure all activities are delivered to a high standard. The Principal Advisor is expected to work across Sector Enablement and Support and develop networks at all levels of the organisation and in the sector to support the prosperous completion of the function.
