Principal Adviser, Partnerships and Education, System and Stewardship Group

New Zealand’s Parliamentary Counsel Office is a key legislation adviser to the Government and to Parliament, and is New Zealand’s legislative drafting and publishing office. The Legislation Act 2019 gives PCO a leadership abilities function for stewardship of New Zealand’s legislation. To meet this leadership abilities challenge, the Chief Parliamentary Counsel has established the Partnerships and Education Team within the System and Stewardship Group.
Reporting to the Manager Partnerships and Education, the Principal Adviser Partnerships and Education will play a key function within the System and Stewardship Group.
The Principal Adviser will be part of a team of legislative and regulatory systems specialists to develop and implement Te Ao M?ori, communications, education and legislative stewardship strategies for PCO.
A key function of the position is to lead the development of PCO's Te Ao M?ori strategy and provide strategic advice and assistance in relation to the PCO work programmes such as nurturing, maintaining and advancing:
   » communities of learning and practice
   » relationship and partnership priorities
   » training and education
   » secondary legislation capcapability building
   » PCO strategic priorities
To be prosperous in this position, you will have a tertiary qualification in M?ori studies, education, design, communications, law, or policy. A genuine enthusiasm for legislative design, drafting and access to legislation is a must. A deep knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, the Tertiary Education Sector - teaching and learning excellence for students, partnerships and communications is essential.
