About the function


Reporting to the Academic Manager, the Screen Production Head of Department is responsible for superviseing the delivery, assessment and moderation of courses within the Diploma in Screen Production and Bachelor of Screen Production programmes at SAE Auckland. significant academic administrative, continuing pastoral care of students, programme development and leadership abilities of academic staff are also essential facets of the function. SAE courses are collaborative across Music, Audio and Screen Production. Therefore, the function also includes facilitation of multidisciplinary creative projects.

The person we seek will ideally have the following:


   » significant tertiary qualification in Screen Production or connected discipline, ideally at Masters level or availability to undertake Masters study
   » Have industry practice within the screen and connected industries and enjoy strong networks and a positive professional reputation.
   » Be a dynamic senior tertiary teacher, with an impressive teaching record
   » Programme management practice ideally within the New Zealand tertiary environment
   » Have an knowledge of essential NZQA processes and requirements
   » Be able to contribute to the latest developments and perspectives on creative media education and in particular have some practice of project-located learning
   » Have an knowledge of how te Tiriti o Waitangi impacts tertiary teaching and learning
   » Be active in research by creative practice, and be able to provide mentorship to academic staff in this regard
