Job Opportunity: Teaching Fellow/Professional Practice Fellow – Hauora M?ori:UniofOtagoJob description:Job DescriptionPREVENTIVE and SOCIAL MEDICINEAbout the department We are the Department of Preventive and Social Medicine at the University of Otago. We work to understand why some people are healthy and some are not, how to prevent illness and injury, how people’s health can be improved through working with communities, how political systems and health organisations affect health, and other issues relating to the health of populations. About the function We have the opportunity to hire either a Teaching Fellow or a Professional Practice Fellow to support hauora M?ori teaching across under-graduate and post-graduate public health courses. This will involve the preparation of learning materials, lecture preparation as well as the delivery of some lectures, class discussions and tutorials. Additionally, you will also assist with assessment reporting and the management of electronic learning platforms related to hauora M?ori teaching. Key requirements (Teaching Fellow) » A Bachelor degree and significant paper(s) in M?ori health and/or development, public health or other significant discipline. » A sound expertise of hauora M?ori and public health. » An aptitude for effective teaching at tertiary level. » Effective written and verbal communication expertise. » Excellent organisation and time management expertise. » An capability to work effectively as a member of a team, and independently. » A commitment to the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi and an appreciation of te reo M?ori and tikanga M?ori. Key requirements (Professional Practice Fellow) » A post-graduate qualification (or currently enrolled in one) in M?ori health and/or development, public health or other significant discipline. » A sound expertise of hauora M?ori and public health. » significant teaching and/or professional practice. » Effective written and verbal communication expertise. » Excellent organisation and time management expertise. » An capability to work effectively as a member of a team, and independently. » A sound expertise of the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi and proficiency in te reo M?ori and tikanga M?ori.
