The Systemic Improvement Monitoring and Resolution (SIMR) team identifies trends and opportunities for systemic improvement via internal and external monitoring. The team develops and maintains robust systems to identify issues, assess options for intervention, and seek resolution where possible to contribute to significant change in public sector administration.

M? te t?ranga – About the function

The function of Senior Advisor Systemic Improvement Monitoring and Resolution is a varied and exciting, monitoring issues across the entire public sector. Where an opportunity for systemic improvement is identified, the Senior Advisor will, as part of the Systemic Improvement, Monitoring and Resolution team, undertake a problem definition analysis and identify the most appropriate intervention to address the problem. This position will connect across the Office, as well as build external relationships. The Senior Advisor will also be responsible for monitoring and evaluation of agency responses to follow up actions from Systemic Investigations.

To be prosperous in this function you will have:
   » A significant tertiary qualification, preferably in public policy, public or administrative law, or a related discipline.
   » A critical thinker with analytical rigour who can see things from a range of perspectives
   » Good knowledge of current New Zealand public sector practice, the context in which public sector agencies operate, and the challenges they face.
   » Sound knowledge of the machinery of government, legislative process and the policy development process.
   » Highly developed and detailed knowledge of, and practical practice in, strategic policy advice, analysis, review, development and implementation.
   » practice of undertaking proactive monitoring and analysis, in-depth resolution with stakeholders and other interventions in respect of complex systemic issues.
   » Common sense and sound, practical judgement.
   » practice with using kaupapa M?ori approaches for research and analysis.
   » practice in working within a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
   » Proven research expertise, and analytical and problem solving abilities.
   » Exceptional written and oral communication expertise.

Information technology is a requirement of the Office that all new staff are fully vaccinated against Covid-19 before commencing work. Depending on expertise and practice the income is expected to be between $98,000 to $128,000.
