Engari, he toa takitini.Success is not the work of one, but the work of many Permanent 0.8 FTE / 32hrs week We are pursuing an Ophthalmologist for Hawke's Bay District Health Board. The prosperous candidate will be one of five Ophthalmologists in our cohesive, friendly team and Information technology is anticipated that they will be able to enhance the Ophthalmology department according to his or her skills and training. The Ophthalmologists are supported by an orthoptist and three registrars as well as ophthalmic nurses in outpatients and theatre. The department is well equipped with OCT, diode and YAG lasers, B-Scan USS. We run a nurse led glaucoma clinic and have two nurse injectors. The work of the department is varied and often challenging. A wide variety of general practice is a requirement, although a special interest in medical retina, VR or paediatric ophthalmology, or other sub speciality to compliment those of existing consultants will be advantageous. Currently vitreo-retinal surgery, glaucoma and oculo-plastics are represented at a sub-speciality level. Hawke's Bay Ophthalmologists have a collegiate attitude and an active commitment to continuing education. Monthly continuing medical education meetings are held and continuing audit is actively encouraged. A generous budget is allocated to attend meetings and courses in New Zealand and overseas.
