Permanent 0.8 FTE / 32hrs week We are pursuing aretinal specialist for Hawke's Bay District Health Board situated in Hastings, New Zealand. This secondary level, 400 bed accredited public hospital provides acute and elective care for our region of over 162,000 people. The prosperous candidate will be one of five Ophthalmologists supported by three registrars, an orthoptist as well as specialist ophthalmic nurses in the outpatient clinic and operating theatre. We run optometrist and nurse-led glaucoma clinics, registrar-led minor procedures clinics, and have two nurse injectors for Avastin clinics. The prosperous applicant will have a wide variety of practice in general ophthalmology and subspecialty training ideally in medical and surgical retina. Glaucoma and oculoplastics are currently represented at a sub-specialty level. Hawke's Bay Ophthalmologists have a collegiate attitude and an active commitment to continuing education. Monthly continuing medical education meetings are held and continuing audit is actively encouraged. A generous budget is allocated to attend meetings and courses in New Zealand and overseas.
