Wellington Regional leadership abilities Committee (WRLC)
The Joint Committee brings together all local authorities in the Wellington region and Horowhenua, mana whenua partners and central Government to provide leadership abilities and direction to tackle the region's key urban growth, economic development and recovery challenges and opportunities. Information technology has delegated authority for approving and implementing key regional strategies. This is a new regional partnership that is critical for the future development of this region. Information technology is expected to result in key decisions on direction and commitment to implementation and funding.
function of the WRLC's Secretariat Team
An independent Secretariat supports the Committee. The function of the Secretariat is to manage the work programme of the Committee, set the agenda in partnership with the independent chair and CEs Forum, and to ensure that there is alignment with management advice to the Committee through liaison with all member organisations.
The Secretariat supports decisions, activate connections and helps ensure the WRLC has the perspective, skills and advice to explore options, make informed decisions and equip the region to sustainably grow.
function purpose
The Programme Director is a pivotal senior leadership abilities position that is expected to manage the business of the Committee and its members. this function is the key point of coordination across the various layers of management (CEs Forum, Senior Managers Group, Secretariat, CCOs) and with the Committee members and their respective organisations, as well as observers and their respective organisations. this function will be the media spokesperson for specified WRLC matters.
The function requires exceptional leadership abilities skills and practice, high level diplomacy and relationship skills, the capability to drive progress in a complex multi-agency environment, management practice, high level communication and spokesperson skills, a deep knowledge of strategy development across urban development and economic development areas, and the capability to translate strategy into action. 
The function is expected to be able to work closely with mayors/chair, Ministers, mana whenua members, chief executives and senior managers across both central and local government and iwi.
