We have a number of new and exciting functions available in our General Counsel’s Office, working for and with, the organisation. With a newly appointed and highly energetic Chief General Counsel leading the team it’s a great time to join! As an enterprise leader You will be responsible for leading a team in the provision of strategic and operational legal advice, the resolution of legal matters across ACC’s unique no fault accidental injury scheme activities and, enable our commercial and contracting environment to deliver results. In this function, you will partner with the organisation to provide the Board and senior leadership abilities with confident and credible advice on legislative functions, policy developments and significant commercial transactions. You will be comfortable advising on complex strategic and operational issues. Your collaborative and inclusive style will enable you to form strategic partnerships that enable the success of your team and the provision of high-quality trusted advice. To succeed in this function, you’ll have the following: » Ideally a minimum of 12 years post graduate legal practice in a large crown entity, public sector organisation and/or a highly regulated large commercial entity » A current New Zealand practising certificate » Proven practice leading a team of experts with a strong focus on the development and growth of team members and the provision of high-quality services » A track record of leading, advising and influencing in complex and changing environments and on multi-disciplinary issues spanning legislation, public law, the machinery of Government as well as on significant commercial activities, contracts and interplays » practiced and confident advising a Board and senior leadership abilities as well as the expertise and capability to work with diverse teams and people organisation wide To add value to ACC in this function you’ll also bring the following: » High integrity, values, and a spirit of service » practice working with a range of technical experts with practice in highly regulated, insurance or health sectors being an advantage » The capability to robustly apply public sector disciplines as well as business and commercial nous With this function comes a great opportunity to continuously improve, deliver and innovate.
