Work with an amazing team, support the delivery of outstanding quality cuisine and provide an excellent customer practice. These are Live-on-Board functions; work 7 days on and 7 days off (Weds-Weds). Fixed-term until 30th April 2023, starting ASAP! Te whiwhinga mahi – The Opportunity Madison have partnered with Interislander for these exciting opportunities for Second Cooks/Chefs to join the on-board crew on a full-time basis. This position provides you with the opportunity to use your cooking qualifications, along with your expertise of the hospitality industry to provide customers and crew with an exceptional culinary practice crossing the Cook Strait. As a Second Cook on one of the Interislander’s iconic ferries, no two days are the same. One day you could find yourself cooking for up to 80 hungry crew members who are looking forward to some hot nutritious food, with the feel of a home cooked meal, or feeding excited children on their holidays some of their favourite Kiwi delights. On other days you could find yourself assigned to cater to passengers in the Premium Lounge, where the passengers’ expectations are higher, and you will be able to show your flair and creativity with the meals you serve. With exposure to a wide variety of cooking styles, practices and techniques, including dessert preparation, pastry, baking and volume preparation and service, you will also have: » Either a National Certificate in Hospitality (Cookery) Level 3, or a formal cookery qualification » High attention to detail » A passion for quality produce and service with culinary skills » Strong organisational skills » Excellent communication skills and be a team player » The capability to demonstrate the maintenance of high standards of food preparation Mo matou – About Interislander This is an exciting time for the Interislander operation.
