This is a district wide function and your main task will be to ensure the delivery of high quality health and discapability services within the Surgical and Radiology Directorate. About the function As Medical Director for Surgery and Radiology Services, your function is critical in ensuring that Southern DHB continues to be a leader in providing quality equitable surgical and radiology services. You will provide medical leadership abilities both strategically and operationally, ensuring that we maintain strong quality and safety protocols, procedures and processes while at the same time developing strategy that will explore innovative ways of providing care to our patients. this function will also ensure we actively support the development, professional conduct and welfare of our Specialist Medical agents. Job responsibilities: Create and implement our surgical and radiology services strategies Ensure the development and implementation of a framework which allows medical staff district-wide to: - Ensure effective strategies are developed in collaboration with consumers and the wider clinical teams - Ensure two-way communication within and between clinical services - Encourage cross-functional integration, support and coordination, especially with regard to organisation-wide and Southern DHB goals and objectives - Develop and implement clinical policies and standards in a cohesive manner Ensure accountcapability and delivery of safe resource allocation and decision making during budget setting and day to day resource management and quality improvement Please note that the position is located in Dunedin or Southland however this is a district function and will involve travel around the Southern Region.
