Come to beautiful and cheap living Hastings. We've got Plum, Nectarine, Kiwifruit, Pear, Berry and Apple thinning from early November right up to Xmas. The harvest work starts again after New Year until May so plenty of options to suit your travel itinery. I'm an employer and “Working Hostel” owner ( Sleeping Giant Backpackers ) with cheap accommodation conveniently located near supermarkets, banks, and sports park. Handy to Napier, local beaches and wineries, it's a great working location. Our orchards are all within 10 minutes of Hastings We are seeking for responsible fit and healthy workers looking to gain at least or above the minimum wage ($21.20 + 8% Holiday pay) in our orchards while working on that tan. Work starts at 7.30 and finishes around 4.30 pm 5-6 days a week. Approx 48 hours a week. Last year thinners earned well above the minimum wage with top earners on $30-35 per hour. Thinning isn't heavy work but involves plucking the excess fruit working off the trees from the ground as well as on ladders. Information technology is essential candidates are comfortable working at heights as well as being able to handle 12 foot aluminium ladders. Training is provided but candidates that do well have generally done some form of outdoor work before or are sporty and coordinated Own transport is an advantage but there are share ride options available as well.
