About Us
Our public service is being called upon to deliver a unified, seamless and effective digital practice for all New Zealanders. As a member of Digital Public Service/Te K?tui Whitiwhiti branch you will help champion this change. We are pursuing two practiced senior product owners with vision and influence to help drive a strong, prosperous and connected digital public sector.
The Digital Public Service Branch works across the public service to connect, influence and support the system to take advantage of new digital opportunities. Information technology also supports the Government Chief Digital agent (GCDO) to drive the government's digital transformation and position government to succeed in a changing and evolving digital age.

About the function:
The All of Government Services Delivery Group (AoG SD) sits within the Digital Public Service branch and is responsible for a broad portfolio of all of government ICT services and digital products.
The group work closely with the supply market to deliver modern digital and ICT services across government, as well as delivering all of government information services.
As a senior product owner, you will be responsible for leading product development priorities and providing high-quality advice to inform strategic and tactical level product roadmaps, located on the needs of the business and end user.
With the support of a cross-functional team you will provide strategic insight on digital products used widely across government and which form part of governments' critical assets register. Naturally you will proactively incorporate the requirements of agencies along with user insight and analytics to improve the overall product offering into the digital product strategy, ensuring we remain customer-centric and deliver engaging and intuitive digital solutions
This multi-faceted and influential function involves:
   » Championing the product's service performance, ensuring Information technology remains available, responsive and is focused on improvements and agile best practice
   » Being innovative to help build and maintain our product and content roadmaps, including new feature development from concept to delivery
   » Participating in sprint ceremonies to provide significant insight and prioritise deliverables, ensuring work is completed by the teams in a timely manner at the expected level of quality
   » Collaborating with multiple internal and external stakeholders to help identify and define priorities ensuring alignment and impact on product offering
   » Leveraging data insights, analytics and user practice research to inform product decisions and help define requirements and the impact on business results
   » Identifying risks and mitigations or escalate appropriately to ensure our digital products remain trusted, safe and secure
About you:
You will have a clear product vision and expertly be able to communicate this, displaying leadership abilities and accountcapability to bring the following:
   » practice in product ownership and digital technologies combined with a track record in agile delivery methodology (agile/scrum)
   » Broad knowledge of how digital information and content channels can be used to provide a great user practice
   » Strong digital capabilities and deep knowledge of how digital solutions and emerging technology can be leveraged to improve user practices with government
   » Significant practice defining and delivering product strategies and roadmaps in a multi- system and multi-vendor environment
   » Demonstrated capability to work at pace and deliver smart solutions to complex problems while providing credible and pragmatic advice, which directly impacts decision-making
   » capability to foster strong positive relationships with multiple stakeholders, including vendors and central agencies
   » Have well-developed time management and organisational expertise to manage resources, priorities and activities within agreed deliverables
   » The capability to balance customer insights and data, to drive recommendations and decisions
   » Prior practice working on software for the recruitment industry such as a job board, ATS (Applicant Tracking System), or HRIS (Human Resource Information System), would be beneficial for one of the available functions.
