St John is enhancing our leadership abilities structure for Emergency Ambulance Service (EAS), adding another level of district leadership abilities, creating some great opportunities for practiced and aspiring leaders.
The number of frontline ambulance personnel has been steadily increasing over the last few years and is expected to continue growing. To support this growth, we are adding a significant number of new frontline leadership abilities functions to embed operational excellence and increase support for our paid staff and volunteers. The new structure provides a range of opportunities for influential leaders to implement our strategies, manage teams, and drive operational excellence. Each function will have a specific focus, and the team will work collaboratively to help shape the future of St John Emergency Ambulance Service.
The Area Operations Manager (AOM) is a senior function and member of the District Lead Team. The key focus is strategic oversight, ownership of key stakeholder relationships, and management of people leaders. The AOM provides tactical leadership abilities to the people leaders in the district, leading and planning EAS response performance in line with the National Ambulance Strategy.
We are seeking for practiced managers, with proven capability to lead others and drive operational excellence, ensuring the team deliver the best possible outcome for patients. Your focus will be on operational detail and delivering on the strategy. Along with proven practice at a tactical management level, the required key expertise include relationship management and developing partnerships, supported by an knowledge of clinical matters and in-depth knowledge of the challenges facing health and social care.
There will be 29 AOM functions, in all areas across NZ from Northland to Southland/Otago.
These functions include restricted personal usage of a marked, response capable vehicle. All appointments are subject to satisfactory completion of pre-employment checks including, but not limited to, drug testing, physical assessment and health check. For clinical operations functions where you are required to drive, you will be required to meet St John medical standards.
We are seeking for leaders with innovative thinking and capability, with the expertise and practice to turn ideas into effective and achievable operational and performance plans. Leaders who have a partnership approach to building and maintaining relationships with the communities we serve, including iwi, hap? and wh?nau. In addition, leaders who support St John’s commitments under Te Tiriti o Waitangi and place emphasis on improving M?ori health equity.
