Weekend Gallery adjunct:Job description:Job detailsOrganisation The Central Art Gallery Closes 31 Oct 2021 Posted on 20 Oct 2021 Region Canterbury Work type Fixed Term Work classification Visual Arts ShareThe Central is seeking someone who is passionate and driven to work alongside Jonathan Smart and Jane Maloneyas a Gallery adjunct in a 6 month fixed term contract starting from mid January 2022.A great opportunity for practice working in an art gallery. The Central Art Gallery is positioned in Christchurch's Arts Centre. We sell and exhibit contemporary New Zealand art with the aim to connect art with the community. You will work with a dedicated team in the day to day running of The Central and be required to work on a Saturday and Sunday at a minimum of 8 hours. The general tasks of this function are the following: » Actively interacting and establishing rapport with clients and the public. » Administration tasks which include answering the phone, email support, document creation, updating our website and entering details to our system. » Working exhibition openings and install weeks at a capacity of once every 4 to 5 weeks. The following expertise will be of an advantage: » Familiar with Microsoft programs, primarily Word, Excel, Outlook. » practice working in retail or sales. » Studied or has previous work practice in galleries/arts. » great communication expertise; is not afraid to initiate conversation with the public during openings and the day to day running of the gallery. » practice with taking photos of artworks and using Adobe Photoshop. » Social media expertise. » Most importantly - a genuine love and interest of New Zealand contemporary art!
