The opportunity awaits:
Northland Regional Council is seeking a community-focused person with practice of working with iwi and the community to support the running of our prosperous CoastCare programme, help build coastal kaitiaki programmes and strengthen linkages between and iwi and hapu.
In this function, you will assist with the delivery of our CoastCare Te Taitokerau Programme and work with iwi and hap? to support their kaitiaki aspirations for the protection and restoration of the coastal environment (for example the establishment of Coastal Kaitiaki Ranger programmes).
The position will involve working around Northland and the base office is negotiable.

We are seeking for someone who can bring the following to our diverse talent pool:
   » Enthusiasm and capability to build and sustain effective relationships with a range of people and groups
   » demonstrating cultural consciousness and empathy
   » sound knowledge of te reo me ?na tikanga and the Te Tiriti o Waitangi
   » practice in building hap? kaitiaki engagement, capacity and capcapability in significant knowledge and expertise
   » Knowledge of Te Taitokerau iwi, communities and coastal areas
   » significant knowledge and practice in M?tauranga M?ori or significant degree qualification in Coastal Science/Resource Management
   » Good knowledge of coastal processes including a sound knowledge of coastal dune form and function
   » Adaptable attitude and capability to lgain and carry out a variety of tasks using a range of expertise
   » Well organised and able to work with minimal supervision
   » Proficient in the use of Microsoft applications and preferably have some GIS practice
   » Full driver’s license, capable of working in the field and able to work flexible hours
