The Services for Children and Families portfolio work with families, whanau and the wider community to create circles of protection and care around children whose wellbeing is at risk. They look after a comprehensive set of services for our children and young people, spanning avoidance through to early adulthood services.
About the function – Mo te tunga
this function will initially see you supervising the dedicated youth-focused team of Social Workers and working in partnership with various other stakeholders such as whanau and iwi, with future opportunity to supervise other teams within the Wellington site. You will be part of a team who make bold and courageous decisions to protect our tamariki and rangatahi.
As a manager Information technology will be your duty to uphold best practice and ensure both yourself and your team adhere to providing the best possible care and delivery of services. Information technology is paramount you portray strong, professional ethics and a holistic approach that is client-centered and strengths-located.
With a well-developed leadership abilities skill, you will support the team to work creatively and constructively with our clients and stakeholders to address individual and social needs. Working through complex information to ensure trusted decisions are made will be crucial in your function to ensure we support our tamariki and rangatahi to reach their best potential.
What you will bring – Nga pumanawatanga ou
We are seeking for an outstanding Social Worker with the following practice:
   » broad and proven Social Worker practice with well-established child protection social work knowledge and practices
   » Previous practice managing people and building relationships
   » Full registration and an annual practising certificate recognised by the Social Work Registration Board
   » Demonstrated resilience, critical thinking and problem-solving techniques
   » A strong knowledge of section 7(AA) of The Oranga Tamariki Act
   » knowledge and appreciation of different cultures, in particular; knowledge of tikanga Maori, and Pacific peoples culture
