One of Australia's most exciting theatre companies is seeking a committed and focused Development Manager to play a pivotal function in our rapidly growing organisation.
Red Stitch's philanthropic program requires the stewardship of a highly motivated fundraiser, who understands and supports the philosophy of our unique ensemble company.
The prosperous candidate will work closely with the Artistic Director, General Manager and development committee to maintain and creatively develop relationships with donors, charitable trusts and foundations, sponsors, customers, and the broader arts sector. As a key ambassador for the organisation, the Development Manager will play a crucial part in ensuring the continued sustaincapability and growth of Red Stitch Actors' Theatre.

Red Stitch Actors' Theatre is Australia's leading ensemble theatre company. Established in 2002, we are unique in our structure: an artist-driven organisation led by our resident actors with the support of a small, dedicated staff and board.
Performing contemporary Australian plays and award-winning new writing from around the world, we are renowned for the intimacy of our venue, and for presenting bold theatre produced with raw integrity.
We play a vital function in the development and presentation of new Australian works through our uniqueINKplaywriting program, and offer opportunities for theatre-makers at all stages of their careers to hone and develop their craft.
With a national reputation for the quality of our work, Red Stitch remains at the forefront of contemporary Australian theatre practice.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
The Development Manager will continue the remarkable growth of our giving program and spearhead the development of other funding and philanthropic earnings streams. They will develop strong, trusting, respectful relationships with our loyal donors, charitable trusts and foundations, and other grant-making organisations. In partnership with the Artistic Director (AD), General Manager (GM), members of the development committee and the Red Stitch ensemble, they will develop creative solutions to fundraising challenges, and remain vigilant about exploring new opportunities to enhance the sustaincapability of the company.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Essential
   » A sound knowledge of fundraising philosophies and practices
   » Demonstrated achievement in fundraising and business development within a not-for-profit (preferably arts) environment
   » A high level of professional integrity and a respectful and courteous attitude toward stakeholders
   » A track-record of prosperous relationship-building with major donors
   » Good motivational, self-management and organisational expertise
   » Excellent written and verbal communication expertise and a friendly and engaging demeanour
   » A high level of accuracy and attention to detail
   » The capability to organise and manage fundraising events and a availability work flexible hours as required to deliver such events
   » The capability to remain calm, professional and positive in an environment where time and resources are limited, and expectations are high.
Desirable
   » A strong interest in and knowledge of Australian theatre
   » Previous practice in a similar function within a performing arts environment
   » practice in CRM management and an aptitude for working in an on-line environment.
