The World of WearableArt (WOW) is the world's leading wearable art practice, and encompasses a renowned international wearable art competition, Aotearoa's single largest theatrical production staged in Wellington annually and exhibition activity both within New Zealand and overseas.
We have the joy of working with hundreds of talented designers from around the world each year as they enter the World of WearableArt Awards Competition and have their work brought to life on stage in the annual Awards Show. We are pursuing an practiced wardrobe/costume professional to join our team.
The Senior Garment Technician plays an integral function in each garment's journey through Competition, Show and Collection activity. In particular providing specialist care (including assessment, repair, and maintenance) of garment entries for the annual Competition and Show, and also garments held in WOW's permanent collection. this function offers an interesting blend of hands-on work, and involvement in the systems and processes that support prosperous delivery of WOW's annual activities.
Our ideal candidate will have a sound knowledge of garment construction, appropriate handling of different materials and a range of construction techniques. The capability to prosperously undertake hands-on repair and maintenance of a diverse range of garments is essential. An eye for detail is vital, as are strong organisational and communication expertise. You'll be confident working with Word, Excel and Outlook, and ideally also have some practice working with SharePoint and database systems.
This full-time permanent function is located in Nelson, with some travel to Wellington for key dates during the Awards Show season required.
