We are pursuing to appoint an Early Intervention Teacher to our team to support our Porirua area.

About our group and team
Learning Support is a critical part of the Sector Enablement and Support Group in the Ministry. We are charged with leading the education sector in ensuring that children and young people with additional learning needs are supported to achieve their full potential through education.
Our Learning Support specialists work closely with families, wh?nau, caregivers, schools and early childhood educators in English and M?ori medium settings and other agencies to help maximise learning results and promote social inclusion.
About this function
As an Early Intervention Teacher you will play a critical function in our region’s Learning Support team by:
   » supporting transition points in the child’s learning pathway, such as transition into early childhood and to school as required
   » providing high quality learning support in conformity with the guiding principles, strands and goals of Te Whariki: Early Childhood Curriculum and Te Whariki a te Kohanga Reo
   » strengthening the capcapability of those who are best placed to support the learning of children
   » assessing, collaboratively planning, supporting and monitoring the implementation of individual (or group) intervention plans.
About you
To be prosperous you will need the following:
   » A Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood)
   » A post-graduate Diploma in Specialist Teaching: Early Intervention or the capability to attain this within four years of beginning in the position
   » A minimum of three years teaching practice and a deep knowledge of child development, learning and behaviour
   » Sound knowledge a sound knowledge and practice of Early Childhood Education policy and practice
   » A commitment to inclusion, and to ensuring children’s presence, participation and learning within a range of early childhood settings
   » practice in working with children with a range of developmental and behavioural needs
   » The capability to build strong relationships with children, their families and wh?nau, other educators and community agencies
   » Confidence with developing, implementing and monitoring individual plans in partnership with other professionals supporting the child
   » knowledge of the Treaty of Waitangi and capability to work in a way that delivers equitable results for Maori
   » A full current driver’s licence is essential as travel is a requirement of the function
