» Sector leadership abilities for Museums and Galleries
   » Wellington office, flexible working
   » Advocacy Focus
Museums Aotearoa, Te Tari o Ng? Whare Taonga o Te Motu, is the independent professional association for New Zealand's public museums and galleries and their staff and volunteers. Our members are vital to community wellbeing, education and learning, research, scientific advancement and the creation of new expertise. Members help people make sense of their world and offer spaces of expertise and refuge. We facilitate creativity and innovation, inspire career and educational pathways and provide platforms for creative and artistic expression. We support the partnership between Tangata Whenua and Tangata Tiriti and the aspirations of iwi and hap? in the care of their taonga and stories.
We are pursuing a Chief Executive to lead Museums Aotearoa on the next phase of our journey. This is a key leadership abilities function for our sector and you will be a ?public face', an advocate and key relationship lead, as well as ensuring efficient and effective functioning of the organisation. With a small, dedicated team and an engaged board, the association is ready to deliver even more value to our members. Advocacy is a real focus for our members, as is ensuring effective communication and support for our extremely diverse sector groups.
As our prosperous candidate you will have had practice in the GLAM sector and understand our challenges. You will be a skilled influencer and communicator, comfortable in any setting be that with Ministers, central and local government officials, on site with our galleries and museums, on marae or with community groups. You will be well organised and able to bring common sense, structure and process to the function, as well as relentless focus on getting things done. Your commitment to working in partnership with M?ori will be evident, as will your passion for seeing our sector thrive.
