Principal Policy AdvisorJob location:Wellington Wellington Central Work Type: Permanent » » » »$130k-$160k income »Permanent functions »Exposure to key Policy Projects The function These functions work closely with Policy Managers across several integral business units within a wide variety of complex Policy and Strategy Branches of this large Public Sector Organisation. The main function of the functions is providing authoritative advice to assist Ministers and others making critical decisions on complex issues, and set the direction of the Teams Policy area, which will relate to the delivery of a number of key pieces of policy that will impact all Kiwi’s. tasks • Enhance the overall capcapability of the business unit, and the wider Policy Group. • Deliver high quality strategic and analytical policy advice. • Provide mentoring and support the professional development of less practiced analysts. • Understands the current government context, policy agenda and priorities. • Demonstrates adaptcapability and strategic foresight as the needs and priorities of the Minister and the Ministry change. • Influence around Policy areas through engagement with key internal stakeholders, and within adjacent organisations. • Work on complex policy programmes and provide suggestions and solutions contributing to improvement results for New Zealand. Skills & practice • Highly developed advisory skills and be keen to developing & maintain skills and knowledge in own area of skills. • Comprehensive practice at a Senior or Principal level in the policy space. • Expert knowledge of the Machinery of Government. • Able to utilise policy project management processes to lead and manage projects effectively. • A significant tertiary qualification is desirable.
