Offer: Ministerial appointed Trustees to the Board of Wairau Valley School:MinEducationJob description:Job DescriptionWould you like to be considered for Ministerial Appointment to the Board of Trustees for Wairau Valley School for a term of up to three years?This Board’s constitution allows for up to two Ministerial Appointees and the Ministry of Education is seeking two appointees to join the elected parent representatives, the principal, and the staff representative. Two positions are available from September 2022. Boards of Trustees provide culturally responsive strategic leadership abilities and direction. They are accountable for the overall performance of the kura, with a key focus on raising educational progress and achievement for all ?konga. Key responsibilities include superviseing the vision of the kura, making decisions on curriculum and policy matters, staff appointments, strategic plans, and property issues. Effective boards adopt a philosophy of governance that appropriately reflects their community and provides a sound basis for meeting the challenges they will face. About the School Wairau Valley School is a small rural school in the heart of the Wairau region. Wairau Valley School offers personalised and ?konga-led education for Years one to eight, reflecting the school’s passion for supporting ?konga and their wh?nau to succeed in learning and in life. Does this sound like you? The Ministry of Education seeks two trustees who understand and reflect the Wairau Valley School community. They should be able to work well in a team, put plans in place for the future of the kura, have good communication expertise, ask challenging questions, and be driven to improve the quality of education that each ?konga is receiving, in particular for M?ori and for Pasifika. In addition, the Wairau Valley School board is interested in candidates with previous practice as a Board Chair, are able to build good relationships with the Principal, and the broader community, and can lead the board as a cohesive team. Ideally candidates would have existing standing in the Wairau Valley community and can act with ?konga, whanau and community interests at heart. The school welcomes board members who have a good knowledge of tikanga M?ori and can represent M?ori. candidates with finance and property practice are also welcomed. How to apply?
