We are currently looking for a Project Manager - Waingake Restoration to join our growing team and help shape the future of our region. This important kaupapa is a partnership with Maraetaha Incorporated (the mana whenua of Waingake), with the support of Ng?i T?manuhiri iwi. A bit about you: You are passionate about working with t?ngata whenua and communities to achieve social and ecological results, particularly around restoration of the whenua. You have practice with large scale revegetation or conservation projects and are capable of leading teams in remote and rugged environments. You understand the importance of the Treaty of Waitangi and you have the capability to apply the principles of the Treaty to work practices. Your strong project management expertise include practice with procurement and contract management and you have a commitment to effectively managing heatlh and safety - both for staff and contractors. Your day will look like: As Project Manager you will be responsible for a variety of workstreams helping to achieve our restoration results for Waingake. This includes procurement and contract management for plant supply, planting crews, and professional pest control contractors. You will also support our Waingake Ngahere Ora field team to plan and undertake broad weed control and predator trapping across Waingake. Your days will be a mix of office located and field located work. In the office you will be working on operational plans, producing maps using GIS software, assisting with the development of workstream strategies, leading contract procurement processes, and assisting with data collection and reporting (e.g. DoC, Te Uru R?kau). A key focus is ensuring any potential health and safety risks for GDC staff, contractors, forestry workers, and the public are identified and mitigated. Out in the field you will be helping to train our team in best practice weed and pest control techniques and environmental monitoring, ensuring we have a strong health and safety culture on site, monitoring contractor performance and working closely with our Ngahere Ora managers to plan upcoming work and movements of the team and contractors around forestry crews.
