We are seeking for an all-rounder with radio, arts, or community organisation leadership abilities practice who knows how to channel strategy and creative ideas into operational results. About the station A community and diversity broadcaster Wellington Access Radio is also a podcast production facilitator. The station is a public service, not-for-profit and non-commercial broadcaster funded by NZ on Air. Each week Information technology delivers over 90 programmes made by, for, and about the community. Programming features local arts, culture, NZ music, and content that provides for the interests of women, students, youth, LGBTQIA+ communities, people with disabilities, and culturally and linguistically diverse communities. At the heart of Wellington Access Radio, volunteer programme-makers broadcast in 22 languages. located on Ghuznee Street in P?neke Wellington, the station broadcasts to Wellington, Porirua, and the Hutt Valley on 106.1FM and provides a digital live stream and podcasts at www.accessradio.org.nz Wellington Access Radio, is a member of the Community Access Media Alliance - www.cama.nz About the position You will lead a small talented team of technical, programming, community engagement, marketing, and accounts staff along with some 300 volunteer programme-makers. As Station Manager, you will be: » networking in the community and building relationships with stakeholders, » ensuring broadcast and podcast content reflects the super-diversity of the Wellington region, » effectively representing and marketing the station, » assisting with the creation of a strategic plan and translating Information technology into operational delivery, » maintaining sound technical operations, » superviseing the financial management of the station, including securing funding and financial reporting. The Station Manager reports to the Wellington Access Broadcasting Society governance board and provides narrative operational, financial, and programming reports to NZ on Air. The ideal candidate will bring to Wellington Access Radio: » The capability to turn big dreams into reality through creative planning and effective management, » non-profit, community organisation, or non-commercial media leadership abilities practice, » a proven record working with people from diverse identities and cultures, » a passion for community outreach, networking, and engagement, » practice managing staff positively and collaboratively, » volunteer management and volunteer support practice, » practice working constructively and collaboratively with a non-profit governance board and volunteer membership, » narrative report preparation for governance and funders, » practice writing operational or project grant funding applications and resolutions, » knowledge of non-profit or charity financial management - including budget setting, financial reporting, financial reviews/audits, » strategic planning and working to further the goals and aims of a creative or community organisation, » familiarity with audio studio and radio broadcasting technology, and » a firm knowledge of non-commercial public service media and its benefit to society.
