This is a new full-time seniorfunction starting from September 2021. A broad and varied expertise of music from Aotearoa is essential for the position.The Communications Advisor will be responsible for a range of writing and documentation tasks, including report writing (i.e. internal reporting, and reporting to funders and stakeholders), writing press releases, newsletters, website stories and resources. They will be responsible for planning and implementing strategies that communicates the work of the organisation for artists and stakeholders, as well as working with the Social Media Coordinator to execute campaigns - particularly around the capcapability work and special events we undertake to support the music sector. this function will be suited to someone who has practice in central or local government communications functions, or has worked in PR or communications in the not-for-profit sector. The prosperous applicant will be someone who: » has excellent written and analytical abilities and is practiced in formal reporting, with great proof-reading expertise » is highly organised and detail focused whilst being able maintain a big-picture perspective across multiple concurrent initiatives, working across all departments » is enthusiastic about working alongside the Chief Executive as part of a small team to tell the story of the organisation » and has great interpersonal expertise and can work with a wide variety of people from across the music and government sectors. The Music Commission is a small but busy office with a team of nine that undertakes initiatives such as the Musicians Mentoring in Schools programme; NZ Music Month; running the Aotearoa Touring Programme, the Industry Internship Programme and the Capcapability Grants Programme; administering the Outward Sound international music market development scheme; and providing upskilling programmes and opportunities to support the growth of New Zealand artists and music businesses. Key expertise Excellent writing and proof-reading expertise; practice in both formal reporting and general public communications; proficiency with Apple Mac & Microsoft Office for Mac is required.practice with CRM systems, Airtable, Formstack and/or File Maker would be useful. broad expertise of music from Aotearoa is essential. candidates must be legally able to work in New Zealand.
