Systems Engineer – 18 months fixed term opportunity
Do you want to be part of the biggest inhouse Information technology shop in the country? Working in an Agile environment we are continuing our journey and are actively promoting agility right all over the Ministry of Social Development.
To enable the Ministry to better help New Zealanders who need our support, we are experiencing rapid growth in our Information technology area to ensure solutions can be delivered to our front line and our clients quickly.
We have a wide variety of work in a fast-paced environment, and exciting opportunities to be a motivational force that empowers our teams to meet delivery goals and increase product capabilities and services to our clients.
About the function
We have a great opportunity in our Auckland office for an practiced Senior System Engineer looking for a fixed-term function.
You will need substantial practice in Linux Systems Administration, preferably in large scale environments, along with strong relationship management and mentoring expertise.

   » Your responsibilities will be a mix of:
   » Working with rich and varied set of technologies with virtual server configurations
   » Working closely with wider operations groups, including in-house Middleware and Database administrators, our environments teams, incident, problem and change management
   » Working with virtualisation technologies supporting Red Hat operating systems
   » Maintaining policies/standards/playbooks within the managed environment
   » Building and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships
   » Working closely with our external partners and as-a-service providers
   » After-hours on-call and scheduled work
   » Working closely with other Systems Engineers providing coaching and mentoring where needed
