Hawkins Theatre in Papakura is on the lookout for a Duty Manager to be the senior management representative on-site primarily on evenings and weekends. You will be fully responsible for the timely and professional delivery of all aspects of facilities services including technical setup & monitoring, front of house including managing bar/café and operational management.
This is not a 'behind the scenes' function, you will be an integral part of our theatre team, knowledge the logistics and set up required. You will need to be hands-on, open to learning new expertise and be willing to jump in & assist the team in providing customer service to the highest standard.

You will primarily take responsibility for the on-the-day event delivery & management in Hawkins Theatre including technical assistance with sound & lighting, front of house management and superviseing & running the bar/café so a background of theatre/ cinema industry, leisure management or to a certain degree, hospitality is essential.
To succeed in this function, you will need a professional and approachable manner with impeccable customer service expertise. You will be able to think on your feet, be creative and problem solve in a pressured environment.
To be prosperous in this function, you will have:
   » 4 years+ practice as a Senior manager function or 2 years+ in a similar industry Duty Manager function.
   » Proven capability to lead, manage, motivate, and develop staff
   » Impeccable customer service expertise and practice
   » The capability to think outside the square, challenge the way things are done and propose suggestions for improvement
   » Strong interpersonal expertise and capability to manage staff, including casual ushers, security, and contractors
   » A driver's licence is desirable
   » A demonstrated knowledge of the cultural diversity within New Zealand and a commitment to positive working relationships with all cultural groups
You must be able to work flexible hours, (predominately evenings, early mornings, late finishes mainly at weekends, and occasionally public holidays) with a commitment to work the rostered hours required. You would be expected to work on average 20 hours a week, although this is mayfluctuate as Information technology is largely dependent on the theatre's operations.
