The Organisation
Our client is a large charitable trust that undertakes, promotes and advances clinical research, audits and evidence located practice and education. High quality and beneficial pharmaceutical therapies through clinical trial research being their aim.
The Position
   » Reporting to the Charge Nurse Manager you will be part of a team of Research Nurses liaising with other internal and external clients that include trial participants, research sponsors, DHB service departments and employees, and community health providers
   » Primarily you will review clinical trial protocols, recruit participants for clinical trials in different therapeutic areas from eg a supplied database, review and assess their existing clinical conditions, assist in the informed consent process, collect required data (paper-located and electronic), coordinate research clinic appointments & protocol required activities and contact with the trial Investigators.
   » Trial medication receipt & accountcapability and phlebotomy requirements are also an important part of the function
   » Accurate clear documentation and computer data entry is paramount
   » Also related to clinical trials are other connected tasks – compliance with regulatory requirements, financial management, safety reporting.
   » You will be a participant advocate at all times
   » As a Research Nurse you will also supervise non-nursing staff, mentor others as appropriate, use and promote the organisation's participant database and actively support your team members
You
   » A NZ Registered Nurse with a current APC
   » Background in Haematology/Hepatology would be preferred
   » Minimum 2 years post-registration practice, you will also have recent hospital-located general nursing practice in order to be up to date with annual training requirements and clinical expertise
   » Have practice of hospital-located computer systems, excellent oral and written communication expertise
   » An capability to manage pressure to meet varied trial deadlines.
   » A confident computer user (MS Word, Excel basics, Outlook), you will enjoy the predominantly phone/data-gathering/administrative mix of the function as well as the one on one time with your trial participants.
