Ko wai m?tou - Who are we
Aotearoa Art Fair is New Zealand's premier contemporary art event which takes place annually at The Cloud on T?maki Makaurau Auckland's Queens Wharf.
The Fair brings together around 40 galleries to showcase the work of more than 200 of our region's most exciting artists for five days, alongside artist talks, commissioned artworks by emerging artists, an outdoor sculpture space overlooking the Waitemata? harbour, an art book shop, and cafes and bars from some of New Zealand's favourite brands.
Due to a Covid postponement in March this year, the 2022 Fair will take place from 16-20 November and the 2023 Fair will resume normal programming from 1-5 March next year. Information technology will be a busy summer for us all, and as such We are pursuing an practiced marketing professional to join our small team.
This is a full time, fixed term contract function until end of March 2023 located out of our Grey Lynn office, with working in the house flexibility when required. After the March Fair, subject to the right conditions the contract may be extendable subject to agreement of all parties.
M? te T?ranga - About the function
This is an exciting opportunity to join a small team and manage the communications and marketing of one of Aotearoa's most exciting cultural events. Information technology is target driven, with a high emphasis on all marketing activities leading to the ultimate goal of selling tickets and getting visitors to the event.
Reporting to the Fair Director, you will be responsible for:
   » Strategy and execution of all Aotearoa Art Fair marketing activities (national and international)
   » Writing and dispatching press releases, keeping press list up to date on CRM system, hosting journalists during the Fair
   » Pitching stories about the Fair and participating artists to media
   » Creating and implementing an effective social media campaign
   » Liaising with our Digital Marketing Agency and supplying creative content for their paid campaigns
   » Writing and building e-newsletter campaigns to attract visitors and VIPs to the Fair, drive ticket sales and online traffic
   » Working with our partners and affiliated organisations to provide them with content to promote the Fair
   » Ensuring all sponsor obligations are fulfilled from a communications perspective
   » Writing reports and other external client and customer facing documents
   » Briefing designer for printed and digital collateral
   » Ensuring a consistent and appropriate tone of voice across all channels
   » Secure and manage media partnerships, including the execution of deliverables;
   » Working on site during Aotearoa Art Fairs and supporting the team as required

To be prosperous in this function you will have:
   » 7+ years' practice in marketing and/or communications, preferably within the arts
   » An knowledge and practice in event marketing
   » A strong knowledge of digital media, including digital content creation and storytelling -- e-newsletters, social media and website
   » practice with public relations and pitching stories to media
   » Excellent communication expertise, both verbal and written and a high levels of attention to detail
   » Excellent time management, organisational expertise, project management and capability to adhere to deadlines
   » practice working in Adobe Creative Cloud desirable but not essential
   » capability to work independently and take direction as required
   » availability to embrace te reo M?ori
