About our group and team
Te Mahau – Te Tai Runga (South) is a frontline group. Our frontline groups collectively provide leadership abilities and integrated services to the sector and others. This includes services such as learning support, education advice, regulation and network functions for schools and early learning services. We do this through coordinating and delivering responsive solutions in order to realise the local education priorities and goals.
About this function
You will provide leadership abilities in identifying and advising on quality strategies that support the prosperous structure, design, development, and implementation of the schooling network.
You will be working with Territorial Local Authorities (TLAs), schools and kura, early learning services, local iwi, boards of trustees and other groups including government agencies and regional and national Ministry of Education kaimahi to identify changing needs within the schooling network so that the Ministry is able to respond effectively.
You will support our Education and Infrastructure and Digital teams, Strategic Adviser M?ori, and the Early Learning and Learning Support teams with planning and funding of initiatives to support access to equitable and excellent results.
About you
You will have an appropriate tertiary qualification and the skills required to bring the following skills to this function:
   » A proven capability to establish, build and maintain highly effective working relationships especially liaising with, communicating to, consulting with, and influencing stakeholders, both internal and external
   » Demonstrable practice in coaching and mentoring a team to build the professional skills and knowledge base of team members
   » Excellent analytical skills including the capability to lead and support the development and delivery of complex analysis and responses to changing needs and advice
   » A strong knowledge of statistical and demographic analysis
   » practice in providing well thought through advice and guidance on issues, risks, and opportunities
   » An capability to convey complex ideas in clear, practical, and concrete terms, tailored for the audience
   » The capability to understand and apply the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and tangatawhenuatanga
