Pou K?kiri – Cultural Connector: M?ori – COVID-19
Public Health
   »New full-time, fixed-term position – 40 hours per week
   »located in either Dunedin, Invercargill or Queenstown
   »Fixed until 30.06.2022
About the opportunity
this function will provide cultural liaison support to the Public Health Service with a primary focus on the COVID-19 response and responsible for providing guidance, leadership abilities and support to Public Health Staff to ensure their project work has an equity focus, across the district.
Key focus areas include the following:
   » Building strong relationships with manawhenua, Iwi and M?ori Health providers
   » Advocating timely/appropriate manaaki and well-being support for cases, contacts, and wh?nau who are M?ori
   » Leading a coordinated approach to develop and evaluate manaaki plans and pathways
   » Support the COVID-19 response team to deliver culturally appropriate services
   » During a local response, link in with the Public Health Emergency response team to ensure services and needs are being addressed in a timely and appropriate manner
   » Be trained in contact tracing and the National Contact Tracing Solution platform and support contact tracing of M?ori when wh?nau M?ori are involved
   » Support staff with their knowledge and application of te reo me ?na tikanga M?ori
About you:
   » To be competent in tikanga M?ori and te ao M?ori, with a developing knowledge of kawa ?-Kai Tahu
   » Ideally you will have practice within Maori health and communities, but if not have real passion and strong links to Maori communities
   » Knowledge of Maori world view – Whakapapa, Whanau, hapu, iwi
   » Competence in Te Reo me ?na tikanga M?ori
   » Good interpersonal expertise, including capability to work effectively with people at all levels of the organization
   » Excellent computing expertise including the capability to use Microsoft products (MSTeams, word, powerpoint, excel)
   » High level of confidentiality and capability to act with discretion and sensitivity at all times
   » Current full driver’s licence (travel across the district may be required)

Covid vaccination requirements
Following the update to COVID-19 Public Health Response (Vaccinations) Order 2021, to be employed with Southern DHB you will be required to be fully vaccinated as a health care worker. If you have already been fully vaccinated you will need to provide proof of this to Occupational Health staff. If you are not yet fully vaccinated you must make arrangements to be fully vaccinated, as required by the order, by 1 January 2022.
