Taitara Mahi -Hastings City Art Gallery Visitor Services and Retail Coordinator Permanent full-time Te Whare Toi o Heretaunga Hastings City Art Gallery is the home of contemporary art in Hawke's Bay, Aotearoa New Zealand. Located in the heart of Civic Square in Hastings-Heretaunga, we work with artists and our communities to grow creativity within the region, and to explore the function of arts and culture in the world we live in. The Gallery, which opened in the 1970s, presents a lively programme of local, national, and international contemporary art. Te Whare Toi o Heretaunga is looking to expand its team and is currently seeking a full-time Visitor Services and Retail Coordinator. The recruitment of this function comes at a time when the Gallery is strengthening its artistic programme, public delivery, and its relationships to its communities and visitors of all ages. This is a front-line position managing the Gallery's Visitor Hosts and Shop, and supporting the Gallery's exhibitions programme, events, and engagement with visitors. You will expand the capcapability of the Front of House team and work with the Gallery's Manager to develop and implement a new retail strategy. In this position you will support visitor engagement with contemporary art and develop competency in a wide variety of customer service and sales expertise required to work within the national gallery/museum sector. You will also provide administrative support to the Gallery's Manager and Team as required and create a safe and secure environment for artworks. ?u wheako -about you, To be prosperous in this function you will have: » A tertiary qualification in a visual art/museum discipline or equivalent 3+ years' practice working in a gallery/museum or significant retail or customer service practice » Knowledge of and interest in the Aotearoa New Zealand gallery or museums environment, and knowledge of contemporary art » People management practice » practice working with the public » An knowledge and commitment to, or availability to lgain about the function of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its application within Aotearoa's arts and culture sector » Excellent organisational and administrative expertise Situated in the heart of Ng?ti Kahungunu, the Hastings district and Hawke's Bay offer an enjoyable environment in which to live, work and play.
