The Incubator Creative Hub is a thriving Arts Precinct within the Historic Village, Tauranga.
About the Incubator
A collective supportive environment, and platform for exhibitions and performances of independent art, music, and theatre.
The Incubator works on a D.I.T philosophy (Do Information technology Together). This applies to anyone using the spaces - we are big on collaboration and connection!
We are a charitable trust - a not-for-profit organisation witha huge volunteer army - all studio contributions go towards the overheads of our facilities.
Our vision is to showcase and celebrate the working life of creatives, artisans and makers, resulting inthe Historic Village being an interactive attraction for visitors.
It delivers a fresh approach around artists in their studios/artist residencies and retail opportunities and offersauthentic pathways for creatives in the next step oftheir business careers.
A visit to The Incubator Creative Hub will find the studio spaces full and humming with eclectic activity, showcasingcreatives atwork. Open to all creative forms - fine art, cuisine, design, fashion, sculpture, writing, poetry, composing, pottery, crafts, etc.
The Incubator offers this unique opportunity to connect artists with their audience contributing to a wider arts movement.
This means minimal financial risk and ensures all participants have skin in the game.
Residents by default are part of a progressive and positive Arts and Culture movement and willingly contribute to collaborations and Community results and cross-pollinating with each other.
Studio details:
There are studio/retail/office type spaces in our hub lending Information technology perfectly for collaboration between residents and the community.
Studios can be applied for and tailored to the residents themselves, depending on their distinct practice.
Applications:
Studios are applied for and accepted on a case-by-case basis at The Incubator's discretion.
Kaupapa:
Our artists are part of a wider arts movement with a shared vision to enrich our city and village with creativity and positive attitudes.
Artists in the studio residencies are committed to contributing to energy exchange with the community.
This can include interactive activities, engagement with youth, mentoring others, working together on participatory arts activities, and collaborating with and supporting each other.
The Criteria:

Studio creatives must be committed, working artisans/creatives/artists. These spaces are professional point-of-retail spaces that are open to the public. You must be committed and available to be present at least 3-4 days per week, prepared to work on a roster amongst the other tenants for weekends,and prepared to diarise and be rostered onsignificant events such as flagship Village events (e.g. Waitangi Day, Jazz Village, Multi-Cultural Festival, Tauranga Fringe Festival).

Studio residents are expected to participate in and/or develop and deliver at least one collaborative event/project per year - These can be exciting collaborative projects with fellow resident artists or the Incubatorteam.

We do have an expectation that as a community you will be willing to contribute voluntarily to at least one community event where your expertise and expertise can contribute to great community inclusion and results.

Studio creativesmust be willing to support other artists, including attending exhibition launches andhelping out with events such as art projects and music performances,to support ourlocal artists - just as we would support you!?
