Our Department
The Department of Preventive and Social Medicine hosts the Ng?i Tahu M?ori Health Research Unit (NTMHRU), which currently has four permanent academic staff – a Professor, an Associate Professor, a Research Fellow, a fixed term Lecturer and ten fixed term research staff. NTMHRU staff are highly effective in both research (including attracting external grant funding in excess of $10m over the last five years, excluding Centres of Research Excellence funding) and teaching.
The function
We are pursuing candidates for a Senior Lecturer in Hauora M?ori in the Department of Preventive and Social Medicine, Otago School of Medicine – Dunedin Campus. This is a full-time, confirmation path position.
The prosperous applicant will have a commitment to Hauora M?ori teaching and research. They will be expected to:
   » Engage in teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
   » Supervise or co-supervise research students in M?ori public health.
   » Conduct independent research in Hauora M?ori.
There are excellent opportunities for research collaboration with M?ori, in the Department, across the University, and with health sector organisations.
Your expertise and practice
   » Have a postgraduate qualification (PhD) in Hauora M?ori, public health, or a closely related discipline.
   » Proficiency in tikanga M?ori is essential.
   » A record of obtaining external research funding and publication is required.
   » Other evidence of research capcapability, commensurate with the level of appointment is desirable.
   » Have an capability to communicate with small and large groups.
