ABOUT THE function

We are seeking for an practiced Child & Adolescent Consultant Psychiatrist to join our Multi Disciplinary Team in K?piti Community Mental Health Team.

The Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) provides specialist mental health services for children and adolescents between the ages of birth and 19 years (inclusive) with indicators of significant mental health problems, and consultation services for lead agencies working with children and youth with primary mental health disorders. We place a strong emphasis on the family being included in the client's recovery process. The ideal applicant will be able to work alongside other mental health professionals and professionals to provide psychiatric skills within the multidisciplinary approach to client care.

Please note, there may be other part-time functions available that can be combined to make full time employment

tasks

- Provide assessment, diagnosis and treatment for children, and young people who have moderate to severe mental health needs and their families
- Work in collaboration with the service user, their family/whanau and the community clinical teams to promote recovery
- Treatment in a community setting of a broad range of diagnoses and co-morbidities
- Work together with other members of the multidisciplinary team
- Provide advice and support to colleagues in primary care
- Supervise psychiatry registrars and medical students
- Contribute to the on call roster for psychiatrists

SKILLS AND practice

- Vocationally registered in psychiatry with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ)
- FRANZCP or equivalent and be able to register for vocational registration with the MCNZ
- significant training and practice
- Have a current driver's license

ABOUT THE ORGANISATION

Capital and Coast DHB (CCDHB) is located centrally in Wellington and has the equivalent of around 4,300 full time staff, making us a major employer in the Wellington region. CCDHB operates two hospitals - Wellington Regional Hospital in Newtown and Kenepuru Hospital in Porirua - as well as the Kapiti Health Centre at Paraparaumu.

The Mental Health, Addiction and Intellectual Discapability Service (MHAIDS) spans three DHBs - Wairarapa, Hutt Valley and Capital and Coast DHB's and includes local, regional, and national services. The local MHAIDS services are provided from multiple sites within the 3DHB sub-region - greater Wellington, Hutt Valley and Wairarapa. Te Korowai Whariki services include regional forensic and rehabilitation services covering the Central region while the intellectual discapability services extend the length and breadth of the country from six bases located in Whangarei, Auckland, Cambridge, Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin.
